The future of chicksands

05-Jan-10 17:33

Just a quick update about the future of chicksands.

Over the past few months we've had a few problems renewing our lease, but now everythings sorted.

So everyone...2010 will be a big one for the bike park.

We have secured our 10 year lease and soon will come the redevlopments and new developments.

The plans are as follows:

  • New corners in the 4X and resurface.
  • new corners in the dual slalom and complete rebuild of berms, split lane all the way to the bottom.
  • A revamp on all the other trails in the bike park.
  • A big pump track on top of the free ride hill
  • All new XC routes will be built around the woods.

I'll keep you all updated with the upcoming dig days soon.

Also just a kind word to people using the bike park in the week:

The bikepark is a pay to ride area and we charge 7 days a week at the cost of £5 per person.

The XC routes are free.

Chicksands Bike Park Fun Day 15th November 2009

17-Nov-09 17:04

Chicksands Bike Park Fun Day 15th November 2009.

Raffle Prize Results.

Hi to one and all,

Firstly let me start by saying a very big thank you to everyone who came up and supported the charity fun day on Sunday 15th Novmber. The day was a great success, fun was had by all and we managed to raise £1,286 for th Royal National Orthopeadics Hospital at Stanmore.

As most of you who know me know, this cause is very close to my heart as the hospital have not only saved my foot they also treat our troops who have been injured in the line of duty. The Royal National Orthopeadic Hospital does a lot for our boys and for the average joe on the street and work wonders so it was great to be in a position to give something back.

I would also like to give a big thank you to Demo Steve, Steve Dowie, Phil Wardle and the rest of the committee for all their help and support with the fun day, it wouldn't have been possible without these guys. Also a big thanks to the club sponsors at Riding High UK, Flow Bikes, Fisher Outdoor and Cycle Life, you are all fantastic.

Secondly, I am off to the Royal National Orthopeadic Hospital on Friday 27th November for what I hope will be my last operation. After this I will not be about for a while, so I would like to take this chance to thank all the riders who have supported the Bike Park this year and to wish you all a very happy christmas and I will see you all at some point in the new year.

Stay safe and keep riding

Dual Slalom Race Cancelled

26-Sep-09 16:06
Unfortunately we have had to cancel the dual slalom race that was due to take place on Sunday 18th October 2009. We have made the decision that the current surface of the track is not fit for the event to take place. We are however looking to reschedule the event once the necessary repair work has been finished. Watch this space for details.

Graffiti around Chicksands

04-Aug-09 19:11
It has been noted that a number of riders have seen fit to deface some of the road signs close to the bike park using Chicksands Bike Park stickers and black permanent markers. The management at the bike park have had to clean these signs as complaints have been made and it is the club/park that has been blamed! Riders are therefore asked to refrain from putting any stickers or graffiti on any signs or trees around or near the bike park. Anyone found doing this in the future will be banned from using the bike park.
